Prison Bluesは連邦政府の命により犯罪取り締まりで没収した金額の運用、監獄における費用捻出の計画としてスタート。 主な目的は納税者の収容費の負担を大幅に減らすこと。
受刑者に彼ら自身の投獄費用と他の支払いの代金を払いながら賃金を稼ぐ能力を与え、売り上げの半分が犠牲者への損害賠償、残りはブランド運営費や出所後の受刑者に回されるという素晴らしい仕組みで、監獄に対しての産業をビジネスにつなげる事を心掛け、オレゴン州では生産が可能な製品の確立を進めました。 結果として、オレゴン州のメーカーに影響を及ぼすことのないように監獄の衣類の生産を47000スクエアフィートの敷地に工場を建て、進める事にしました。
1989年に工場は設立され、受刑者向けのジーンズ、ヤードコート等の生産を行っています。
 
形、シルエットも良く、各リベットに加え、フライトップもオリジナル刻印が施され、ツールポケットにはネームタグが付属。ペーパーパッチやフラッシャーのデザイン細部にまで手の込んだ作り。クタクタになるまで履き倒せるタフな作りでプライスもお手頃。
